I don’t do well living with uncertainty. I am better at it as I’ve grown older and realize that I can’t control everything.

However, uncertainty makes me feel vulnerable. I don’t like not knowing what comes next. I guess you could say that I feel like I’m floundering and like I have no direction.

How is it for you? Can you accept uncertainty and the lack of control?

Uncertainty can be unnerving. Knowing exactly what will happen from one day to the next is reassuring, even if it isn’t particularly thrilling.

Humans are inherently predisposed to fear the unknown. Before we lived in our modern, comfortable homes, many unpredictable things were somewhat perilous.

If we weren’t sure whether an animal, food, or other thing was safe, we should avoid it.

Although we no longer face the same hazards as in the past, the concept of the unknown remains terrifying. Even if something does not kill us, we are aware that it might bring us injury or discomfort in a variety of…
