There is little advantage to comparing ourselves to other people?
Comparing ourselves to others is pointless. We have no idea what is really going on in another person’s life.
They may look happy whenever you see them, but you don’t know if they are struggling with a health condition or even have financial worries.
When it comes to words such as envy or jealousy, it is really about us comparing ourselves to others and coming up short.
Although envy may appear negative, it can also be positive.
When a coworker earns a promotion you desired, or your closest friend is preparing for her wedding while you are looking for a date, it is upsetting to feel as though you are missing out on something.
On the other hand, envy might offer perceptions you can use to improve your relationships and better understand yourself.
To prevent and manage such nagging resentments and comparisons, it is a good idea to learn how to face your resentments.
Stop Comparing Yourself and Try Avoiding Envy
1. Stay Away from Comparing Yourself
When you compare yourself with another person, envy develops.
Although it is a natural tendency, it can lead to a great deal of misery.
It is best to just concentrate on improving yourself. If there is something you want to accomplish that you see someone else has, challenge yourself to get there as well.
Make it a goal with some action steps, and you will release the envy.
2. Develop Thankfulness
Envy draws attention to what you perceive to be lacking.
Consider your blessings. You might be surprised how fortunate you really are, and you don’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.
Make a list of your skills and consider your achievements.
3. Have a Realistic Perspective on Other People
You may have an idealized view of the people you admire.
It is important to realize that each of us actually has struggles and setbacks.
