What are you trying to accomplish in life? If you are like most people, you have probably never given that question any thought, and as a result, you have no idea how to respond.

It is too bad about that. Mission statements are common in businesses, and you should consider writing one for your own life.

If you do not have a mission statement, it will be difficult to formulate the most beneficial strategies and choices for yourself.

Three key benefits come from writing a mission statement. It compels you to ask yourself your reason or justification for your existence in this life.

It also gives you a direction for your life and something against which you may evaluate yourself. There is no valid excuse for you not to compose a personal mission statement and follow it.

You can give your life direction and purpose by formulating a mission statement and using the following strategies:

1. Decide Who You Would Like To Be In The Future

Imagine being the person of whom you would be the proudest. What particular qualities does that individual exhibit?
