Delaying gratification is a crucial quality to have if you want to succeed.
I could improve at delaying gratification. Although I’ve gotten better at it, I still want what I want as soon as possible. I can find myself frustrated when I don’t achieve a goal quickly.
Waiting is sometimes painful, but I have learned over the years that delayed gratification can sometimes increase the pleasure of getting something. Waiting seems to make whatever I’ve wanted more enjoyable because the anticipation builds.
However, getting something immediately doesn’t have much of an emotional impact.
Learning to delay gratification can help you be happier and more successful personally and professionally. Psychological studies support what various cultures have long taught about the power of delayed gratification: a little self-discipline may lead to amazing outcomes!
