Does it seem that people are lying more and more to get what they want? Have they forgotten that there are many ways to check the facts? Google must be very tired from all the googling!!
Of course, everyone lies. If someone claims they never lie, guess what? They’re lying. According to research, the average person lies 3–5 times every day. The Science Museum of London even published a study claiming that we are lied to anywhere from 10 to 200 times daily. Unfortunately, most of us aren’t particularly good at detecting when others are lying.
These higher estimates include tiny white falsehoods that we occasionally say to avoid hurting someone’s feelings. How would you respond to the inquiry, “Honey, do I look fat in these pants?” You might also tell someone you appreciated the dinner they prepared, even if you didn’t actually like it. These are not the types of lies we should be concerned about.
